Sailing the Seas

Morning, the other day when I was following my good friend Mary Anne's blog I saw a link to a challenge that was not using Fall or Christmas colors. Mary Anne, does this challenge a lot and has only good thing to say about it. Since my last five or so challenges were for Fall or Christmas. I decided I wanted to do this one. It's over at Kim Wilson's Off the Wall Craftiness.
This week she is giving away a set of Clear and Simple stamps. Since I'm trying to build a great base of stamps and I'm really falling in love with this style for several reason.
Here is Kim's inspiration photo. The colors are navy, coral and white.
I knew right away I wanted to do a sailing card. I grabbed my Navy, melon and white card stock all GKD and the boat stamp from Enjoy The Sunshine Stamp TV Kit. Inked it up in Marvy Navy. Then I took the anchor image from the same set, inked it up in Versamark. Stamped it randomly all over my melon to use as my DP. Cut the navy strip to fit and assembled everything added some pebbles from Joanne's $ bin and it is complete.
Now that the details are complete, my reasons for doing CAS cards. Most of the cards I make either go to my Grandchildren or are off in the mail for others to enjoy. Last time I went to mail a card it cost $1.50 to mail. While I do not object to having to pay this much for special cards. Sometimes if you are sending a lot of cards such as 5 grand kids this cost can add up. Secondly they don't really care how long I spent on it or how many layers are there. They are just happy to get mail in their very own name. One of the more important reasons is to help keep my creativity going. Sometimes I just don't have time to do a complicated card or while something is drying such as stickles or glimmer mist on my complicated card I can do a CAS card in between. Kinda of a two for one deal!
I hope you love the CAS style.
Have a happy day.
Colleen

Clean, crisp card! I was hoping to get to play this one, but Hubby is on vacation and he is dragging me here and there. What is even worse, is when you pay all that dang postage and they don't get the card or it arrives damaged!
