WinterThank You

Over at Craft A Scene this month the challenge is to create a winter scene. First I want to say there are some amazing scenes over there, you will really want to take a look!
I love making scenic cards, mostly because I love nature and everything about it(except snow). LOL
I created this card for my neighbor, who this year kept my driveway clean while my husband was on the road.
To create my "snow" I stamped my TH Tumbled Glass on my mat and spritzed with water, and bathed my white card stock in it. I let that dry overnight with a large stamp on top. OK I will confess I did the above step half asleep knowing I was really to tired to do any more, otherwise I would have worked on it before it dried. LOL I stamped the Fence 289D, Sm Tree Cluster 266D from stampscapes in Versafine black ink. The Pine Needle Branch I found in a set R.S. Tapestry which I had for about three years. The deer came from a GinaK Designs set by Theresa Momber called Life is Good. I lightly colored the ground with a brown colored pencil and the trees with a pine colored pencil. Since this is a masculine card and a scene I did not want to add the normal embellishments, but still I wanted to dress it up and get the sentiment on the front. I tried something I've never tried before by adding a vellum cover. I think it provided the right touch.
Now on to some exciting news, Do you remember the first card I made for the challenge at this site? The one everyone thought looked like Bonanza I brought it back because it took a top Three badge last month.

Normally This badge goes on the side bar since I can't seem to make that happen I thought I would put it in this post. It was an overwhelming honor and I might add a bit to live up too. I hope to really learn and grow in these challenges. Thanks for the honor! It really made my day.

I do have to work today, just a bit later. I have to really give my craft desk a good cleaning. I still have stamps and dies out from the last three cards. Maybe I shouldn't admit to that, it works for me to a point then I have to clean.
Thanks for peeking in today. If I'm not back today see you tomorrow.
Hugs
Colleen

Colleen you have turned in another great scene. I like how everything seems to be in the background and the sentiment is in the foreground. Thanks for joining us this month at Craft a Scene. NancyD

Well, congrats on being in the Top Three -- that is definitely an award winning card! Also like your snowy, hazy scene with the deer. Scenic cards aren't my "scene" but I sure do enjoy seeing yours!

Fabulous scene Colleen! Congrats on your top 3 pick for January as well!
Love your scene and how you described it being built. I would have never thought of using distress inks for a scene that way!
The vellum gave the scene a new dimension..awesome idea!
Thanks for playing along at Craft A Scene!

It is funny but I was actually looking at a scene just like this, as I prepared dinner last night. The deer in the field were so close to the road at dusk, that I called my DH to warn him as he was due to come up the street.I love the softness you achieved here, Colleen!

PS. Geri said if you hit refresh when you try to comment on my blog, that it then lets you. Still don't know what the deal is.
