Spooning (altered challenge)

Over at Eclectic Paperie
this two week challenge was to alter a spoon. These gals are so creative not only do they come up with ideas, their projects are always fantastic as well. You should really check them out.
I decided to make Christmas ornaments. I purchased one spoon for each grandchild.
My top picture shows the before and after and then I have a closer look.
I started by bending my spoon because it was too long for hanging but it gave me a huge "spoon" surface. I coated the whole spoon with two coats of gesso. Then came a coat of white acrylic paint mixed with iridescent medium. I used 1/8 inch score tape and red glitter to make the stripes on the handle. For the spoon part I coated that with TH Broken China stain. I added a painted tree on the right side using several colors of TH greens paint. I die cut the small TH deer in shrink and colored with Butterscotch alcohol ink, added a bit of liquid applique and TH Rock Candy glitter puffed that up with my heat gun. Broke out those tiny JustRite Christmas stamps that fit so nice in my bottle caps. I did forget to take a picture of the back. For the back I used squashed red tissue applied with Mod Poge and distressed with TH Walnut Stain which I carried lightly over the rest of the project to give the more distressed look.
I know its been a bit, I really have been in the middle of one project or another these past few weeks. Hope to have them posted soon as well. Please come back and look.
That's it for today.
