Happy Easter

Hi, today's post is for Joan's Garden challenge. This one is a great challenge. The requirements are
1. Use some kind of animal, bird or whatever (my chick)
2. Use a floral background paper (October Afternoon)
3. Do something that takes you out of your comfort zone (girlie, Shabby Chic)
4. Use some kind of Die (Spellbinders Scalloped Octagon)
I have them all covered.
For my animal I chose this Chick on an Egg stamp from Paper Inspirations. I have two of their sets purchased at 1/2 price over a year ago at my local Stamp Store. The image was so pretty on the cover I just couldn't resist. No one explained how the stamp worked and I was too new at stamping to know. I've since learned how to use them, I think!
My paper is from October Afternoon Thrift Shop, purchased at Joan's during her clearance sale over Christmas. Love this paper Joan! The striped paper came from the same pack.
The third requirement is to do something out of your comfort zone. If you follow my blog you will know this whole card is out of my comfort zone. First it is the most girlie card I've ever made. Second, I've been trying to master a bit of the "Shabby Chic Look"
for some time and have never been pleased with my efforts until this time and I tilted my image which I never do.
Ribbon, lace, three kinds of flowers, and soft colored pearls? Who's made this card anyway LOL.
Really the one thing I didn't count on was the glossy accents I used to give a bit more definition to the chick turned my Tim Holtz Walnut ink yellow ....... I'm glad it wasn't some other color! At least the yellow looks intentional. So there it is my entry ....... I thought it would be good to put in this post the definition I found

'Shabby Chic Style Elements'
Layers of softness characterized by the use of ribbon and lace, a time-worn look achieved by inking, pearls, glitter and other such embellishments.
Please let me know what you think and any helpful hint are welcome.

Have to get ready for work now. I'm going to be there most of the day. Tomorrow I'm off so I will have some paper time I hope because I'm falling behind.
Have a great day.
Colleen
