Photo Transfer

I was drawn to the Eclectic Paperie blog by the talent and diversity of the DT and Kim the owner. They were using many different techniques and materials I was not familiar with to produce great projects, cards, tags and canvases. They have challenges every two weeks on Thursdays. This past challenge was to use Gel Medium on a project. This medium can be used in many different ways one of which Julie demonstrated Photo Transfer. I had already taken some great pictures this spring of a flowering tree in my yard intending to do a transfer in the future, so I thought great I already have half the job done. I started my project right after watching her video that day. The process takes drying time so you have to start early. I decided to make my project an ATC size to keep it small in case it took a try or two. Five tries later I was so glad I kept it small, I'm still not sure what was wrong, my product wasn't exactly the same as the demo I allowed several different drying times and coats of product no matter what I just couldn't get a transfer I was happy with. Time has run out and I did my best ..... What I decided to do was take the leftovers of all my different efforts collage them together on an ATC embellish a bit leaving plenty of the transfer pieces showing. I will try this project again, as always I did think of a few ways to improve. I will use a darker tone allowing me to see when I'm getting too close to the paper a less detailed photo will not need as much rubbing to bring out the details. If I wasn't so busy trying to make this work I would have thought of these improvements earlier. LOL
Can't wait for the next challenge tomorrow.
Hugs
Colleen

OH I think it turned out GREAT. And I had to chuckle because I always have trouble with photo transfers. And most things do take me several tries :-). Your ATC is awesome and if you had not said that you pieced the transfer, I would not have caught that. I'm still stunned by the vibrancy of the transfer..... great job and thanks so much for playing along with the eTeam in our eTeam Picks Challenge.

Hi Colleen your tag turned out beautifully and the flowers in the picture are stunning! Not sure what went wrong for you, I just got around to doing my entry and i used really cheap copy paper for the transfer. I found that the transfer comes out a little paler but I love the worn look it creates.
So glad you joined us over at eclectic Paperie and let us know if you have another go.
Big hugs
