Over at PanPastels the challenge this week was to something for Love and Romance theme. You can do anything for your project a journal page, canvas, altered item even a card although they do prefer to see projects other than a card. You do not even have to use their products. But since I have them, and sought out a challenge to use them on........
I really wanted to see how far I could take them other than just coloring my stampscapes. Well if you get a chance to go to the blog you will find they are as versatile as any other medium.
One of the DT members Claire has been a wonderful source of information and a huge bit of encouragement. You should stop by her blog and check out some of her work. She designs for several sites. She sent me to a few sites for video's and then said to just play. So that is exactly what I did. I used the brightest red all over the sheet, with water and a paint brush I began "painting" the page with water. Who knew you could turn these wonderful chalks to watercolors? I used my bright white for the stencils, no water this time. I know you can not see all the background, if you look close you can see the lighter circles, this was done with one of my piercing tools and white Gesso. They really looked too white so I did the red over them praying they would turn pink, they did not! I went to work thinking I ruined my page, then it dawned on me I could erase the red. Returned home and that is exactly what I did now they are lighter. I also use a Liquitex iridescent medium mixed with water over the whole page so it shimmers. I also used PanPastles to color my doily's added a few other embellishments some very awful printing at the bottom and a sentiment at the top.
I really want to thank Claire for her help and encouragement.
Hugs
Colleen
